Dear Helen

The London 2012 Olympics is fast approaching we have been busy putting measures into place to keep your business running as smoothly as possible.

Don't get caught up in the logistics

With restricted routes in and around London the following measures have been put in place to deal with the inevitable disruptions over the next few weeks.

  • Our carrier is doubling its fleet of vehicles with each vehicle being manned with two drivers, making deliveries easier where parking and unloading restrictions are in place.  Please ensure that staff are available to allow prompt offloading of deliveries.
  • We will pay any surcharges incurred on deliveries to certain postcodes along the Olympic Route Network. Click here for a map of affected areas.

Delivery surcharges

The good news for you is that Lincat will absorb any surcharges incurred on deliveries to postcodes along the Olympic Route Network. Click here for a map of affected areas.

However, deliveries into lockdown venues can only be accessed by the official logistics supporter for the Olympics. Due to enforced security checks there is a surcharge for this service of £25 per parcel, which we will unfortunately have to pass on. Click here for a list of restricted postcodes and venues.

Delivery times

Whilst we will endeavour to fulfil your requested delivery dates our advice is to plan ahead and place your orders for delivery now. We will be unable to guarantee services within the London area for the coming weeks and would advise you to allow up to 5 days for standard delivery rather than the usual 3 days.

Service calls

Our service engineers are fully stocked with spare parts, and for a period will work outside of their normal hours in an effort to avoid peak travel times and attend service calls as quickly as possible.

Willie Rushton's favourite joke

And finally, it's an appropriate time to share the late, lamented Willie Rushton's favourite joke...

A reporter at the Olympics approaches a competitor and asks: "Excuse me, are you a pole vaulter?"

"No", replies the man, "I am German, actually, but how do you know my name is Walter?"
